Glenn Balfour came as a student to Mattersey Hall in 1982, at the age of 18. While there he also completed a Bachelor’s degree with King’s College, London. Following his studies at Mattersey Hall, Glenn served first at Emmanuel Church, Newark, (AoG) for seven years as Associate Pastor, and then at Tenison Road Church, Cambridge (AoG) for a further seven years as Senior Leader. During this time he completed a Master’s degree and a Doctoral degree with Nottingham University, and began teaching at Mattersey Hall. He took up a full time post at Mattersey Hall in 2000, and served the college in this capacity for the next fifteen years, first as Director of Studies, then as Vice Principal. He took up the full-time post of Teaching Pastor at Net Church, Dartford, Sittingbourne, Woolwich (AoG) in 2015. In 2017 he returned to Mattersey College.

Glenn’s teaching specialism is the two main biblical languages –New Testament Greek and Biblical Hebrew – as well as New Testament studies. He is the author of A Step-by-Step Introduction to New Testament Greek (2005) and an accompanying Memory Aids publication, as well as A Step-by-Step Introduction to Biblical Hebrew (2009).

At present he is working on A Verse-by-Verse Introduction to the Greek text of Mark’s Gospel. Alongside his college and local church commitments, Glenn has developed a national and international teaching ministry in various churches and other colleges. At the centre of his personal sense of calling is a desire ‘to teach God’s word to God’s people’.

Glenn is married to Caroline. They have four grown-up children (Rebecca, Nathan, Daniel and Hannah), five beautiful grand-daughters (Jemima, Grace, Lydia Hope and Emelia) and a grandson, Jonah.
