The Donald Gee Centre, named in recognition of the prolific writer and world statesman for Pentecostalism, is an archival resource for Pentecostal and Charismatic historians and researchers. It consists of Pentecostal books, records and minutes, tapes, and documents from the British Pentecostal and Charismatic movements – Assemblies of God, Elim Pentecostal Church, Fountain Trust and is growing in its documentation from other streams. The Donald Gee Archives commenced under the auspices of AoG and Elim headed up by the late Desmond Cartwright in 1995 at Mattersey Hall. It had the following aims: 1. To collect information, particularly primary information concerning British Pentecostalism from its roots to the present day. 2. To enable education and a greater appreciation of the history of the Pentecostal movement from its grass roots at local church level to the wider influence that is now part of the globalised movement of charismatic Christianity. The Centre has a wide range of early periodicals, later tapes, books of minutes of the PMU – the Pentecostal Missionary Union – and other matters to do with the British Assemblies of God, Elim and some aspects of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM). The collection of printed material and recordings are presently being arranged in the new Research Centre at Mattersey Hall. Please note: anyone wishing to view the materials should make a formal application to the Archivist and supervised access is usually permitted only to those engaged in post-graduate research in the field of Pentecostal and Charismatic studies.
