Our programme stands at the crossroads of these crucial disciplines, providing you with the tools to define and defend your faith, while leading with wisdom, empathy, and relevance.

CertHE Theology & Christian Leadership

  • CertHE Theology & Christian Leadership

    The CertHE is a one-year, Level 4 qualification, with a focus on the core disciplines of theology and Christian leadership. It is offered as a full-time course, which shares the first year of the BA curriculum, or can work equally well part-time (spread over 2 years), alongside an internship or other similar commitments. A CertHE can be counted as year one of the BA course if you decide to continue your studies.

  • The CertHe is a one-year, Level 4 qualification, or two-years part-time.

    The course is also offered as distance learning courses.

  • Theology and Christian Leadership is a comprehensive and engaging course that seeks to equip students with a profound understanding of theology and practical leadership skills within a Christian context.

    It is designed for those with a passion for serving their communities, developing their faith, and becoming effective leaders within the church and beyond.

    Students can specialise their learning through a unique Youth Ministry pathway. With distinct Youth Ministry modules in years 1 & 2, the pathway equips students to meet the specific needs of young people in the contemporary context.

  • The programme’s key features include a strong emphasis on theological foundations. Students will immerse themselves in various facets of Christian theology, including:

    • Biblical Studies

    • Systematic Theology

    • Church History

    • Ethics

    • Hermeneutics

    • Christian Ethics

    Practical leadership skills constitute another essential component. Recognising leadership’s significance in ministry and community service, the programme focuses on cultivating the following skills:

    • Team building

    • Communication

    • Organisational Management

    • Effective Communication

    These skills empower graduates to lead effectively, inspire others, and make meaningful contributions across diverse contexts.

    The course integrates practical experience through Church Placements and Mission Trips, enhancing a student’s ability to bridge theory and practice. Personal and spiritual growth is nurtured through mentorship and spiritual formation, fostering a deeper connection with God and a sense of identity and purpose.

Our Formation

Church Ministry/Placements

Each student enrolled on the course will need to arrange a local Church Placement. Usually, this is with their home church, where they are already known and established. The Placement allows students to gain practical ministry experience (whether on youth teams, community projects, worship, pastoral care and so on) and to outwork what they have learned in the classroom.

Placements work as a partnership between the church, student and college, and are a significant part of our students’ formation. Our Student Liaison Officer regularly meets with the student and church’s placement co- ordinator to help ensure the partnership is as effective as possible.

  • The academic year begins at the start of September with our online Induction morning.

    There are six intensive teaching weeks hosted at the AoG GB Leadership Centre in Manchester. These are divided into two semesters. The first has teaching weeks in September, October and November. The second is in January, February and March. These are followed by a 1 week Mission Trip in April and Enrichment Week at the end of May.

  • For applicants under 21, the primary requirement of acceptance to the college, is evidence of the candidate’s ability to complete the programme – a part of which is expected 2 A-levels or equivalent. Mature applicants (21+), who do not have formal qualifications, may still be admitted, though in that case it is usual to ask applicants to submit an essay on a Biblical subject. A competent level of computer literacy, especially in word processing, is required by applicants wishing to study at Missio Dei. Therefore, it is advisable that students, who are not already proficient in word processing, emailing or using the internet, should consider taking a course in computer skills before entry to Missio Dei. Prospective students are also required to demonstrate an appropriate proficiency in the English language, more details can be found in our Admissions Policy.

    The application deadline for all Undergraduate Courses is the last working day of August.

  • Throughout all our undergraduate programmes, a range of assessments is conducted, comprising both practical and coursework components. These assessments consist of essay writing, presentations and group work. They are designed to assess not only your ability to understand a subject, but also to demonstrate practical abilities as well as reflective skills.

  • We appreciate that there may be some people who are unable to attend an on-campus programme. The Undergraduate Programmes, with the exception of a few modules, are also available as Distance Learning (DL) options. Those studying by DL will be assigned a Personal Tutor, to give advice and ongoing help and support through the programme. They will also have specific Module Tutors, guiding them through the course material and the assignments. DL students are welcome to visit the campus and are free to attend any relevant lectures.
