Designed to ground students in the key issues of mission theory and praxis today, this module encourages students to think theologically about mission, and explore what the implications are for mission strategy today. In addition to a special emphasis on church planting, some of the other subjects we explore include chaplaincy, migration and multi-directional mission, justice in the context of mission and more. Students will develop their ability to think critically about the opportunities and challenges regarding mission today and be equipped to understand the role of leadership in mission and the Pentecostal distinctive in mission work.

This postgraduate-level short course, designed for alumni of the Pentecostal Theological College, offers an in-depth exploration of the biography of the Apostle Paul and the theological contribution of his writings to the New Testament, as well as the influence of those letters on Christian theology. Special attention is given to themes of theology, Christology, soteriology, pneumatology, ecclesiology and ethics found within the undisputed Pauline corpus.

The short course in Christian Apologetics will:
Introduce the major schools of thought and the overall principles involved in the practice of Christian Apologetics.
Demonstrate the way in which philosophical, cultural and historical factors lie behind any understanding of Christian truth claims.
Consider cultural literacy and how faith and religious practice interacts within their wider cultural context.
Address key issues in society, including LGBTQ+, climate change, creation care, social justice, etc. and to develop an informed theological response to these.

This four-day short course examines key themes in Pentecostal theology, tracing the development of the doctrine of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit from its Holiness roots through classical Pentecostalism to the Charismatic and Third Wave movements. Participants will explore major theological debates, including subsequence, glossolalia, and the doctrine of initial evidence, alongside key objections to Pentecostal theology and contemporary responses.
The course also considers Pentecostal doctrine and practice relating to charismatic gifts, including tongues, prophecy, healing in the atonement, and contemporary signs and wonders. It concludes with a critical examination of significant Pentecostal and Charismatic controversies, including the Word of Faith movement, spiritual warfare, Oneness theology, revivalism, ecclesiology, and church governance.

This short course looks at the biblical texts within their geographical, historical, political, cultural, religious, philosophical, and literary contexts (Sitz im Leben), examining how socio-historical settings shape interpretation and exegesis.
Through critical engagement with primary sources and contemporary scholarship, the course considers the emergence of Israel, the relationship between Ancient Near Eastern texts and the biblical creation and flood narratives, the influence of Jewish and Second Temple literature on the New Testament, and the Jewish and Greco-Roman contexts that shaped the origins of Christianity.
Participants will engage critically with key debates in biblical studies, gaining tools for informed interpretation and a deeper understanding of the world behind the biblical text. Students with relevant Hebrew or Greek language skills are encouraged to work with the biblical texts in their original languages, with additional tutorial support available.
