Supporting Students at Missio Dei

At Missio Dei, we are dedicated to providing equality of opportunity for all students. We work hard to ensure that all students can participate fully in our programs without disadvantage.

  • Steps to Get Help

    Pre-Study Support:

The Disability Officer contacts prospective students to explain available support.

Advice is given on how to obtain an assessment of need.

    During Your Studies:

When an assessment of need is provided, the Disability Officer works with students to implement recommendations.

Our dedication Student Support Team provide support to students across a range of areas academically, emotionally, pastorally and spiritually. The team are able to also signpost where additional support can be sought if professional help is required.

To contact the Student Support Team please call the office on 0177817663 and ask for the Student Support Team, or email [email protected] where your information will be dealt with sensitively.

Note: As a private institution, we do not receive funding to finance student support but can guide students to external resources. This includes disability assessments.

  • Access and Participation

Missio Dei Leadership & Theological College is committed to fulfilling its regulatory obligations by developing a comprehensive Access and Participation Plan (APP). This plan outlines the college's strategic approach to identifying prospective and current students who require additional support to access and fully engage with their academic programs.

The APP is informed by robust data collection and analysis, enabling Missio Dei to recognise barriers faced by underrepresented or disadvantaged groups. Based on these insights, the college establishes clear, measurable objectives designed to enhance access to its courses and increase meaningful participation in all aspects of student life.

Missio Dei is currently submitting a new APP for 2026/27. The current plan is available here on our Procedures and Policies page.

  • Students with dependents

Missio Dei strongly supports students who have dependents by providing financial grants designed to help ease the challenging balance between academic studies and family responsibilities. The dedicated Support Team facilitates effective communication with academic staff to arrange necessary schedule adjustments. Additionally, the team offers pastoral care to address emotional and spiritual needs. This comprehensive approach fosters an inclusive and supportive environment where students with dependents are empowered to succeed academically, while effectively managing their important family commitments.

SLC also offer Childcare Grants to help pay for childcare whilst you are studying, A Childcare Grant is additional income assessed funding to help students with children pay the costs of childcare during study.

Students are eligible for help with their childcare costs if they are a full-time student and have children under 15, or under 17 if the child has special educational needs.

Please see more infromation here: https://www.gov.uk/childcare-grant
