Our Posgraduate Courses
Why Theology & Leadership?
As today’s Church seeks to engage with an increasingly diverse and interconnected global community, the need for leaders who possess both deep-rooted theological insights and modern leadership acumen has become paramount. Our programme stands at the crossroads of these crucial disciplines, providing you with the tools to define and defend your faith, while leading with wisdom, empathy, and relevance.
MA Practical Theology (Christian Leadership)
-
This course covers a wide range of topics - including contemporary leadership, Pentecostal history and theology, and studies focusing on mission.
It is especially suited to those who are working in a ministry context, particularly church leaders and ministers who want to develop their knowledge and skills in practical areas of theology, as part of their ongoing professional development. It is also a great opportunity for in-depth academic study.
The Christian Leadership pathway allows a student to demonstrate a particular focus on leadership in a church setting. With a greater focus on reflective practice, it provides students with Leadership Tools to use in their current church context.

Both of our MA Programmes start in September. Modules are taught in intensive teaching weeks in September, October and January.
-
All of our MA programmes have two main entry routes.
The first route is with a recognised Bachelor’s degree in Theology or a theology- related subject. We would normally expect applicants to have achieved second-class honours or above.
The alternative route is for those without formal qualifications, but who have at least two years senior leadership experience in a church or mission context. Those admitted via the alternative route will be required to submit an essay to demonstrate suitability for the programme. The MA in Biblical Studies also requires a level of competence in one or more biblical languages. Tuition in Greek or Hebrew is available as preparation for the MA in Biblical Studies. Please get in touch with us for more information.
-
Our MA programmes all require the completion of four 30-credit taught modules – usually examined by an essay of 6000 words – and an 80-credit Dissertation of 15,000 words.
All students study a compulsory Critical Methods module, as well as three additional modules. Modules for the MA in Biblical Studies and the MA in Practical Theology are delivered in intensive teaching blocks in September/October and January.

We appreciate that there may be some people who are unable to attend an on-campus programme. The Postgraduate Programmes, with the exception of a few modules, are also available as Distance Learning (DL) options. Those studying by DL will be assigned a Personal Tutor, to give advice and ongoing help and support through the programme. They will also have specific Module Tutors, guiding them through the course material and the assignments. DL students are welcome to visit the campus and are free to attend any relevant lectures.
Please note that module options are subject to change.
